The Byron Center Historical Society is a non profit
organization and was originally formed in 1978 primarily
for Genealogy research. In 1986 The Historical Society
obtained the “Township Hall” a State Historical Landmark,
to utilize for a museum and to house the genealogy archives.
The Historical Society has worked diligently over the
years in collecting, preserving, and recording the History
of Byron Center and its surrounding areas, in an effort
to tell the stories of past generations to future generations.
Our
Mission Statement Engaging
the Community in the preservation, education, and
celebration of our heritage. To preserve for research
and educational purposes, artifacts and information about
the life and times of the people of Byron Center and its
surrounding areas, from it’s Native American origins to
present day times. To this end, we will endeavor to acquire,
preserve and display historical artifacts and documents
in a manner that will encourage people to use our facilities,
to learn of our history and create community.
